Our history
Who am I?
My name is Tor-Atle Kindsbekken and I am the one who runs this website. I was born in 1977 and have had a great interest in 8-tracks ever since I was little. 8-tracks had long since gone out of fashion in Norway at the time I was born, but my parents were probably a bit "old-fashioned" and still had both a black and white television and an 8-track sound system in the living room at home when I was little.
I have clear memories from when I was in the playpen of being fascinated by these big and bulky, often colorful and a bit strange 8-track cassettes that produced amazing music. My biggest favorite song quickly became "Honey Honey" from ABBA's amazing "WATERLOO» cassette. This made such an indelible impression on my young child's mind that the fascination with 8-SPORS has followed me ever since.
Of course, 8-tracks were replaced in favor of more modern home stereo systems in the early 80s, and I probably had to go through both the regular music cassette as well as LPs and CDs, before I finally found my way back to 8-tracks during my early teens, probably around the mid-90s. That's when I inherited the old 8-track sound system from my mom and dad that had been hidden away in the attic for all these years.
From then on, my interest in 8-tracks has followed me. It comes and goes in waves for me. I have had periods where I have barely given 8-tracks a thought during certain periods, but the interest always returns. I constantly drop by second-hand markets or flea markets and always have a keen eye for 8-tracks. This has resulted in a rather overgrown 8-track collection over time, but it is not yet larger than there is still room for more.
